Season of Change, Change of Season
This series of paintings created in the spring/summer of 2021 represents a desire to return to normalcy in an ever-transitioning world.
I want to take the viewer to a brighter spring-like palette of pastel blues, pinks and yellows… and cautiously optimistic greens, and to look more intensely into the marks and nuances of the abstract backgrounds that depict the turbulence of these past two years. Usually, I choose to represent bare trees in my landscapes, however, in these works I’ve represented them in full bloom, their fine trunks dubiously stable and almost teetering. Within this body of work I’m hoping to communicate that the key to growth is adapting and embracing this season of change, all the while allowing nature to run its course.
