Dreamscapes
My Dreamscapes series arose while self-isolating during the Covid19 pandemic. It combines an arrangement of flat geometric planes (created with acrylic and gouache paint) against transferred images of personal photos, gathered during my travels over the years. My palette in this series consists of muted, yet fresh, gelato-like colour tones.
I suppose growing up in the 60’s & 70’s influenced these colour selections… as I try to conjure nostalgia for a time when life was more straightforward and effortless. It is a visual form of escapism from our current state of turmoil: a way of coping and perhaps a way of going somewhere without leaving the confines of my studio space. Through the rhythmic waves of the palm trees and dispersion of bubbles, I’m hoping to transport the viewer, taking them on a journey, to their own special ‘dreamscape’.
